In a Different Time

In a Different Time by Ben Day

Some doors are meant to open,
And some are meant to close.
Now our tears are fogging up the windows.
All I’ve ever wanted is to love and be loved,
And I guess that I got it.
It’s just not what I thought that it was.

So, stay awhile and hold me
Till it’s safe for me to leave.
Give me time so I can stop believing.
Cuz, I’ve never been good at these goodbyes,
Especially one that’s like this.
Cuz, the first one to say that she loves me
Is the one I can never be with.

Just close your eyes and think of me.
I’ll close my eyes and hold this dream of loving you.
All we have left is a visage of what could have been
In a different time, in a different life.

And I feel just like that child who’s lost and alone in a foreign land
Who’s terrified of what’s outside.
Won’t you please just take my hand
and whisper to me softly,
That even though it hurts,
We’re still beautiful and so’s the whole world.

Just close your eyes and think of me.
I’ll close my eyes and hold this dream of loving you.
All we have left is a visage of what could have been
In a different time, in a different life.

I suppose that it’s time that I let go,
just of you, not of what we knew.
Even though I know that it’s over
I will never stop loving you.

Just close your eyes and think of me.
I’ll close my eyes and hold this dream of loving you.
All we have left is a visage of what could have been
In a different time, in a different life.
