And So You Run by Ben Day

Your vision’s blurry as you look around you
Gazing through the waterworks
Come on, now, we’ll make it work
Just keep your head above the rising tide now
And fix your eyes upon the sun
You’ve forgotten how it feels to run

Corroded arteries and rusted hearts
Broken parts torn apart in the dark
You wonder if it ever stops
If only you could see the whole from part
You drink it in and start to stretch those legs
Because you know you’ve gotta run this race
And so you run

You wanna run, you try to take a step but then you’re overcome by everything and all that’s left of what you’ve done, and what’s been done to you by those around you, nothing to hold to

You feel irrelevant, would someone please address the elephant inside this room, inside my head? All this malevolence is welling up inside me and it’s turning to intolerance, now turning to indifference

Could this be different? You know we’re wandering, searching for the something to relieve us from this suffering, but finding nothing, and always wondering

You feel alone, but you know you’re not alone, but all you’ve known is jaded by the hate inside your own self aimed at everybody else for everything that all of them did to you, but I know you’ll make it through

Just lift your eyes, and raise your sights, and see the sun breaking through the clouds, as you run you feel the ground is passing more rapidly beneath you as you run

As you run you start to feel something real, something enlivening, it’s quickening your body and your spirits, and your goal is getting near, it’s just up ahead, it’s just up ahead, so, keep on running

You feel the sun as you run, you see the arms, you feel the love
Just run to me, run to Him, run to peace and to freedom, you can see them with tears in their eyes from the love that you’ve been denying them, but now you’re letting it in because you’re learning how to run, and you’re running and running and running…

You start to feel again, from running

As you run you start to feel again

Oh, to feel again

I want to see you run

And so you run, until you can’t feel your legs or anything else
Oh, so you run, find your faith, find what it takes to carry you through
Oh, to feel again
Oh, oh, oh to feel again
I wanna see you run

I wanna see you run
