Getting Home
Getting Home by Ben Day
Today, today and yesterday
I felt like I was in the way
And all that sunshine made was of shade
I dreamed that someday you would really see
All the things I’ve thought to be
Not knowing you see more than me
Today, today and yesterday I pray
You’d teach me what to say
You taught me what to say
You always said it in your own way
But I still don’t know what to say
So, I’ll just roll on home
Take all the things I didn’t know
And you can say I told you so
Tell me to take it slow
You’ll never say I told you so
There’re still some things you’ll never know
So, don’t give up on getting home
No, don’t give up on getting home
Mom: I know you’re having a rough time. And I wish I could fix everything for you. Storms come. They’ll always come. You need to ride out the storms. Don’t jump ship, just wait. You’ll be glad you waited and that you didn’t jump ship. Things will get better, they always do. Tomorrow’s a new day. Anyway, I love you!
Don’t give up on getting home…
